Events Associated with 'The 'Rapture'

The key that provides understanding as to what happens prior to, during and immediately after the Rapture is contained in the Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins:

(Matt 25:1-13)  "Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. {2} And FIVE of them were wise, and FIVE were foolish. {3} They that were foolish [who did NOT read their Bibles to understand prophecy or to become like Christ] took their lamps, and took NO [additional] OIL with them: {4} But the wise took [additional] oil in their vessels with their lamps. {5} While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. {6} And at MIDNIGHT there was a CRY made, Behold, the bridegroom [meaning, Jesus] cometh [at the Rapture]; go ye out to meet him. {7} Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. {8} And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. {9} But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. {10} And while they [the Foolish Virgins] went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. {11} Afterward came also the other [Foolish] virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open [the door of Heaven] to us. {12} But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I KNOW YOU NOT. {13} WATCH THEREFORE, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh."

Other accounts that provide additional information to events occurring at that time are:

  • The Rapture event (1 Thes 4:15-18)
  • The change of mortal bodies into immortal bodies (1 Cor 15:51-57)
  • Two men asleep in a bed – one taken (Luke 17:34)
  • Two women grinding at the mill – one taken (Matt 24:41-42; Luke 17:35)
  • Two men working in a field – one taken (Luke 17:36)
  • Society's and even the church's ignorance of the events leading up to the Rapture – e.g. Days of Noah and of Lot (Luke 17:26-30; Matt 24:37-40)

I have discovered that many professing Christians in today's churches have little Bible knowledge or understanding as few of these have read the entire Bible. Although they may be able to profess their 'gospel' message, the question is – would it be powerful enough to impact a sinner so much that he or she would then be in tears, crying out for Christ to save them from their sins and from spending eternity in Hell? Probably not.

Of the two groups in the churches - 5 who are "wise" and 5 who are "foolish", the 'Wise Virgins' are those who not only study their Bibles diligently, but apply what they have learned to prove what is truth or a lie. These also preach the True Gospel that is politically incorrect in many of today's churches:

"Preach the word; BE instant in season, [Be] out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 3 For the time will come when they [today's Christians] will not endure SOUND DOCTRINE..." (2 Tim 4:1-5)

(1 Cor 11:19)  "For there must be also HERESIES AMONG YOU, [yes, Christ encourages heresies to occur in the churches so] that THEY WHICH ARE APPROVED [unto God] may be made manifest among you."

The Wise Virgins will have proven their beliefs (meaning, "sound doctrine) that represents the additional quantity of "oil" needed to meet Christ at the Rapture; whereas the Foolish Virgins ignore the need to acquire any such requirements.

When the Antichrist signs the peace covenant with Israel, all Christians (both Wise and Foolish Virgins) will then become aware of this (because it follows a world war) and there will be significant confusion everywhere for people's discernment to be functioning properly. Nevertheless, the Wise Virgins will prove that this man is the Antichrist by adding up the number of his name and spreading this news throughout the churches. Such an act will represent the Midnight Cry mentioned in Matt 25:6.

Those Foolish Virgins who respond to this news then begin to realize how little knowledge they have about these events and how 'foolish' they have been in their ignorance as to what has been happening around them. To try to make up for lost time, they ask the Wise Virgins where they can obtain more Bible understanding and the truths needed so as to be able to meet Christ. They are directed to undertake the same research and apply what they learn to their lives as the Wise Virgins did over many years. As the Foolish Virgins attempt to do this, Christ comes in the Rapture and takes the Wise Virgins to heaven with Him.

"And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. 9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. 10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut." (Matt 25:8-10)

Whether it is two Christian men working in a field or two men asleep in bed at night (Luke 17:34); or when two Christian women are working together in a place of employment (Luke 17:35) – when the Lord comes in the Rapture, He will only take the Wise Christians and leave the Foolish Christians behind.

After the Rapture occurs and the Foolish Virgins then realize they have been left behind, they then cry out to Jesus as stated below:

"Then once the master [Jesus] of the house [of God] is risen up [at the Rapture], and hath shut to the door, and ye [the Foolish Virgins] begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are : 26 Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk [during Communion] in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets [at home groups]. 27 But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity [who teach falsehoods]. 28 There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out." (Luke 13:25-28)

"For MANY [Christians] are called [to spend eternal life with Christ], but FEW are chosen." (Matt 22:14)

For the Wise Virgins who died in the faith and whose bodies have been in their graves over the past two thousand years, they will be resurrected at the sound of the First Trumpet at the Rapture to receive their glorified immortal body (the same type that Christ has) and then ascend through the air to meet Christ in the clouds. The evidence of this event occurring will be of the many opened graves that appear in cemeteries throughout the world:

At the sound of the last trumpet at the Rapture:

"...17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words." (1 Thes 4:16-18)

It is unknown what timeframe (if any) there is between the period in which "the dead in Christ rise" and the point where "we which are alive and remain" are changed into glorified eternal bodies like Christs' (1 Cor 15:52-53) prior to meeting the Lord in the air. Christ may require His 'alive' (and wise) virgins to announce this event to the world to counteract any false claims by Antichrist's people prior to being 'raptured'. It will be a time where anything could happen, so all of God's people need to be prepared!

The "Unknown Periods" indicated on the chart below highlight this point.

For the Foolish Virgins who remain on the earth AFTER the Rature, they are then faced with two options:

  1. To take the Mark of the Beast ('666') so as to continue buying and selling and living a 'normal' life (Rev 13:16-17); or
  2. To remain steadfast in their faith in the face of their captors by confessing Jesus Christ as both their Lord and Savior. Such a confession will lead to possibly being tortured and of their eventual beheading – but this will become the price of salvation for anyone from this point onwards:

"...and I saw the souls of them that were BEHEADED for the witness of  Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had NOT worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years." (Rev 20:4)

"And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: 10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? 11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled." (Rev 6:9-11)

For any Christian who feels they may not have achieved the needed requirements to be in the Rapture, today is the best time to confess this to Jesus, repent of your lack of diligence in this matter and then seek to make amends while the time remains.

"Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out YOUR OWN SALVATION with fear and trembling." (Phil 2:12)

(Matt 10:28) "And fear not them [meaning, Antichrist's forces] which kill the body, but are NOT ABLE to kill the soul: but rather FEAR HIM [God] which is able to destroy both soul and body in HELL."
