The Man-child of Revelation 12:1-2

Sixteen proofs that the 144,000 of Rev 14:1 are the man-child of Rev 12:1-2, Rev 12:5:

  1. It has been proved that the sun-clothed woman is national Israel. The man-child then, could not be either the Gentiles or the Church which is made up mainly of Gentiles (Acts 15:13-18).

The woman would have to produce her own kind, according to the law of reproduction given by God (Gen 1:21-28).  Therefore, if the woman is Jewish, the man-child must also be Jewish.  The woman represents a company of people.  The man-child must also represent a company of people.  There is no other company in the events of Rev. 4-19 that could possibly be symbolized by the man-child other than the 144,000 Jews of Rev. 7 and Rev. 14.

  2. The man-child cannot be Christ because everything from Rev. 4:1 onwards must be after the churches of Rev. 2:1-3:22.

How could John see the historical ascension of Christ as happening among the things to be in the middle of Daniel's 70th week or 3 1/2 years before the Second Coming of Christ?

  3. The man-child cannot be the church as a whole, or in part as some teach, because the church is raptured in Rev. 4:1 before the events of Rev. 4-22 which must be after the churches.

  4. The man-child represents a company of living people who will be translated without seeing death.  The woman brings forth either a dead or a living child, not one partly dead and partly alive.  The dragon could not kill one already dead at birth (Rev. 12:4).  Therefore, the child is caught up to God alive as soon as it is born (Rev. 12:4-5).

The 144,000 are the only ones in all of the events of Rev. 4-22 (which must be after the churches) that could possibly be the man-child whose life the dragon tries to take (Rev. 7:1-8; Rev. 14:1-5).  Since the Old Testament saints and church saints are all resurrected to immortality by this time, it would be impossible for the dragon to kill them.

  5. The 144,000 Jewish men (or 'man-child) are all virgins who have NOT defiled themselves with women as clearly stated in scripture in Rev 14:4.

I base this claim on the following principles in scripture that relate to eunuchs and how much more significant it is for those in God’s kingdom to become eunuchs if they aspire to a higher level of service to Christ.

In the Bible there are three classes of eunuchs mentioned:

    1.    Those born impotent who are incapable of marriage (Matt 19:12; Deut 23:1)

    2.     Those made eunuchs by men to be chamberlains and to care for harems and apartments of queens and princesses (Matt 19:12; 2 Kings 20:18; Jer 29:2; Jer 34:19; Jer 41:16; Isa 56:4; Acts 8:27-39)

    3.    Those who make themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven:

(Matt 19:12)  "For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and THERE BE EUNUCHS, WHICH HAVE MADE THEMSELVES EUNUCHS FOR THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN'S SAKE. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it."

New Testament examples of self-imposed eunuchs referred to in 3 above are Jesus Christ and the Apostle Paul:

(1 Cor 7:8-9)  "I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, IT IS GOOD FOR THEM IF THEY ABIDE EVEN AS I [a self-imposed eunuch]. {9} But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn [in their lust]."

My point here is that the 144,000 Jews of Revelation 7 and 14 are a very highly esteemed company of people.  They will eventually assist Christ to administer His kingdom in the Millennium and beyond using a "rod of iron" (Rev 12:5) – so these will be a very special group of men who will NOT be able to be seduced by any woman, either before or after they have been caught up to Heaven.

In this claim, I prefer to believe what it plainly written in the scriptures - that the 144,000 men are vigins and have not defiled themselves with women.  Trying to spiritualise this statement into something else such as not worshipping idols is what I believe God never intended it to be.

  6. Rev. 7:1-8; Rev. 9:4; Rev. 12:5 and Rev. 14:1-5 give a complete understanding of the 144,000—their number, salvation, sealing in the forehead, protection through the first 6 trumpets, rapture under the 7th trumpet as the man-child, and their destiny and position in heaven after their rapture.  If one of these passages is taken away, the revelation about them is incomplete.

We have them on earth all through the first 6 trumpets (Rev. 7:1-3; Rev. 9:4), and in heaven immediately after the catching up of the man-child in the 7th trumpet (Rev. 1:1-5), so if they are not the man-child, who is he and how did the 144,000 get into heaven?

In Rev. 14:1-5, it is stated that the 144,000 are before God's throne in heaven, having been redeemed from the earth and from among men.  They are a heavenly people during the last 3 1/2 years of the tribulation.  How and when were they translated if not as the man-child of Rev. 12:5?

  7. The time of the rapture of the 144,000 proves them to be the man-child. The time of their translation is identical with that of the man-child (Rev. 12:5; Rev. 14:1-5).

  8. We have seen that the church and Old Testament saints are to be raptured before Daniel's 70th week and the Tribulation.  We have also seen that the great multitude of tribulation saints will be killed mainly after and raptured after the 144,000 are in heaven.  The only other company caught up besides these is the 144,000 and the only place for their rapture is in Rev. 12:5.

Therefore, the man-child and the 144,000 must be the same.  If they are not the same, then we do not know whom the man-child represents of how the 144,000 get to heaven.  Where is the revelation of their rapture if not in Rev. 12:5?

  9. The place where the 144,000 are located in Rev. 14:1-5 proves they will be in heaven during the last 3 1/2 years of the Tribulation, so they must be raptured before then.  The Mt. Sion referred to is the heavenly one (Heb 12:22-24).

  10. The 144,000 are the firstfruits to God from Israel after the rapture of every saved Jew and Gentile of the church in Rev. 4:1.

These are not saved when the church is raptured or they would go up also (1 Thes. 4:16; 1 Cor. 15:23).  Since they are saved after that—during the first 3 1/2 years of the tribulation, and since they are in heaven during the last 3 1/2 years of the Tribulation, their translation must be the same as that of the man-child in Rev. 12:5, which is in the middle of the Tribulation.

If the man-child (representing a company of Jews from Israel) were to be saved and raptured before the 144,000, then the man-child would be the firstfruits to God from Israel and not the 144,000.  But since the 144,000 are to be the firstfruits, then it is clear that they are the first Jews saved and raptured from Israel during the Tribulation of 7-years between the rapture of the church and the Second Coming.  This proves that the 144,000 are the ones symbolized by the man-child.

  11. There is only one company saved and raptured between the Rapture of the church at the beginning of Daniel's 70th week and the rapture of the tribulation saints at the end of this week.

That company is symbolized by the man-child and clearly revealed to be 144,000 Jews (Rev. 7:1-8; Rev. 9:4; Rev. 12:5; Rev. 14:1-5).  If they are not the same, then there are two translations in the middle of the week—one revealed and the other not; the history of one given after reaching heaven and the other not; the identity of one clearly stated and the other not.  Thus, mystery after mystery appears if there are two companies instead of one.

  12. The 144,000 are specifically sealed for protection to go through the trumpet judgments only (Rev. 7:1-3; Rev. 9:4).

Immediately after the 7th trumpet (which includes all of Rev. 11:15 -13:18), we see the 144,000 in heaven (Rev. 14:1-5).  The way God protects them from the wrath of Satan under the 7th trumpet is by catching them up to God and His throne (Rev. 12:4-5) followed by the casting out of Satan from heaven to the earth (Rev. 12:7-12).

The dragon is then full of wrath because they have been protected from the first 6 trumpets.  He seeks to destroy them under the 7th trumpet, but God translates them (Rev. 12:4-5).  Then the dragon turns on the woman (Rev. 12:13-16).

He fails to destroy her and is then exceedingly angry, turning on the remnant of the woman (Rev. 12:17).  These are protected from him by the two witnesses (Rev. 11:3-12) and by the new wars declared against the Antichrist from the north and east of the 10 kingdoms (Dan 11:44).

  13. The woman, man-child, and remnant of the woman are the only Jewish companies mentioned in Revelation (Rev. 12:1-2,5,17).

The 144,000 must be one of these 3 companies, for they are sealed out of all the tribes of the children of Israel (Rev. 7:1-8).  They are in no place mentioned separately from these 3 companies as a 4th company, and there is no indication of them as such.  Since they are one of the 3 companies, which one are they?  They cannot be the woman or the remnant for these remain on earth while the 144,000 are translated (Rev. 14:1-5).  The 144,000 therefore must be the man-child.

  14. The 144,000 are the only ones that could possibly fulfill the statements about the man-child in Rev. 12.  The man-child and the 144,000 represent a small company (Rev. 7:1-9); they both are caught up to God and His throne (Rev. 12:5; Rev. 14:1-5); they both are delivered from the wrath of the dragon (Rev. 12:4-5; Rev. 7:1-8; Rev. 9:4; Rev. 14:1-5); and they both are a heavenly people (Rev. 12:5; Rev. 14:1-5), so they must be the same company.

  15. Isaiah (Isa 66:7-8) predicts Israel as bringing forth the man-child before she is delivered or saved at the end of the Tribulation (Zech. 12:10-13:1; Rom 11:25-29).  Who is the man-child that Israel is to bring forth before her own conversation at the Second Coming if not the 144,000 of Rev. 7:1-8; Rev. 14:1-5?

  16. Daniel (Dan 12:1) also predicts the deliverance by the transporting of every saved Jew at the time the Great Tribulation begins for Israel (Matt 24:15-22; Rev. 11:1-3; Rev. 12:5-6,13-17; Rev. 13:1-8; Jer 30:6-9).

Daniel says that everyone that shall be found written in the Book of Life among His people will be delivered from this Great Tribulation (Daniel 12:1).

The number of them written in the book of life is revealed in Rev. 7:1-8; Rev. 14:1-5.  How are they to be delivered from this tribulation except by Rapture, as stated in Rev. 12:5; Rev. 14:1-5?

If the woman and her remnant were saved at the time of the translation of the 144,000 godly Jews, they would also be transported.  But the woman, or the nation as a whole, is not saved until 3 1/2 years later at the Second Coming (Isa 66:7-8; Rom 11:25-29). The remnant turns to God after the catching up of the man-child and after the persecution and flight of the woman into the wilderness (Rev. 12:17). Therefore, the 144,000 must be the man-child.
