The Period Around Christ's Second Coming

The chart above illustrates the following features:

  1. The second half of the Tribulation period lasts for 1,260 days. It commences from the mid-Tribulation point (Rev 11:3and Matt 24:15) and concludes when the two witnesses complete their testimony and are killed (Rev 11:7-9).

  2. Following the death of the two witnesses and the apparent victory the Antichrist has over them, the nations of the earth rally their armies at Armageddon in their attempt to finally eradicate Israel from the Middle East. This war known in scripture as the Gog/Magog (or Ezekiel 38) War against Israel that commences 1,290-days after the mid-Tribulation point or 30-days after the end of the Tribulation. It is believed that the nations of the world will require 30-days to assemble their armies at Armageddon.

“Behold, the day of the LORD cometh,

  • For I [God] will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and
  • the city [of Jerusalem] shall be taken, and
  • the houses rifled, and
  • the women ravished [raped]; and
  • half of the city shall go forth into captivity,
  • Then [at the 1,335-day point] shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.” (Zech 14:1-3)

It is on this 1,335th day that Jesus Christ and His hosts from heaven return to battle Gog and Magog’s armies so as to save the nation of Israel from annihalation and to reveal to the Jews in Israel that Jesus Christ is their Jewish Messiah (Rev 19:11-17).

Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction [to the enemies of Israel] from the Almighty.

  • Therefore shall all hands be faint, and
  • every man’s heart shall melt:
  • And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth:
  • their faces shall be as flames.
  • Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.
  • For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light:
  • the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.
  • Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place,
  • Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined unto them shall fall by the sword."

    (Isaiah 13:4-15)

Therefore, thou son of man, prophesy against Gog, and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal: 2 And I will

  • turn thee back, and
  • leave but the sixth part of thee, and will
  • cause thee to come up from the north parts[probably Russia and China], and
  • [I] will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel: 3 And
  • I will smite thy bow out of thy left hand
  • cause thine arrows to fall out of thy right hand.
  • Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel
  • I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be devoured.
  • And I will send a fire on Magog, and among them that dwell carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I am the LORD…and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel.
  • set on fire and burn the weapons, both the shields and the bucklers, the bows and the arrows, and the handstaves, and the spears, and they shall burn them with fire seven years:
  • I will give unto Gog a place there of graves in Israel, the valley of the passengers on the east of the sea: and it shall stop the noses of the passengers: and there shall they bury Gog and all his multitude: and they shall call it The valley of Hamongog.”

    (Ezek 38:1-22)

And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem;

  • Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and
  • their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and
  • their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.”

    (Zech 14:12-15)

This means that the enemies of God and of Israel will experience the following punishments from Him:

  1. By a plague causing the flesh to consume away while they stand upon their feet.  The eyes will consume away in their holes, and their tongues will consume away in their mouths (Zech. 14:12).  This will happen to both men and beasts (Zech. 14:15).

  2. A great tumult from the Lord will be among them and they will destroy one another (Zech. 14:13).

  3. Judah will fight and destroy and plunder all of her enemies (Zech. 14:14).
