The Bible's Six Raptures

There are some Christians about these days who question the authenticity of the Rapture.  The notes below will dispel any claims that deny the reality of the Rapture of the Christian church.

To appreciate this claim, the following points must be appreciated.

  1. Since the day Abel was murdered by Cain (Gen 4:8), Abel and ALL of the righteous Old Testament saints who have died in the faith dwelt (as disembodied souls) in the Bosom of Abraham located in the lower parts of the Earth (Luke 16:23-25; Mark 12:26-27). See Rapture 1 below.

  2. As Christ was born and lived under Old Testament law, He died to become the Lamb of God that replaced (or became the perfect substitute for) the OT animal sacrifices that the Jews offered up to atone for their sins.  In this sacrificial role, Christ became the FIRSTFRUITS OF THE RESURRECTION of them that slept (see Rapture 2 below).

(1 Cor 15:20) "But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become THE FIRSTFRUITS OF THEM THAT SLEPT."

  3. Since Christ’s resurrection and ascension (Acts 1:9-11), the souls of Jewish or Gentile believers in Christ no longer go to the Bosom of Abraham to wait to receive their eternal bodies at the First Resurrection, but each believer goes to their mansion in Heaven (John 14:2) to wait out that period, at Rapture 3 below.

Meanwhile, evil and wicked men and women continue to rule and cause pain and suffering upon the earth (while persecuting God’s people too) until Raptures 4, 5 and 6 described below have occurred. Once the souls of these saints (from each of these Raptures) are in Heaven, Jesus then returns to the earth to destroy the Antichrist and his armies at Armageddon (Rev 19:11-16) and then judge the sheep and goat nations (Matt 25: 31-46). Then follows the 1000-year Millennial reign of Christ (Rev 20:5) followed by the Great White Throne event (Rev 20:11-12).

The SIX Orders of the First Resurrection are identified below.

1.   CHRIST THE FIRSTFRUITS (1 Cor 15:23)

2.   The OLD TESTAMENT SAINTS that were resurrected after His resurrection (Matt 27:52-53; Eph 4:8-10).

3.   THE RAPTURE: "But every man in his own order;….afterward they that are Christ's at His coming" (1 Cor. 15:23,51-54; John 14:1-3; Luke 21:34-36; 2 Cor. 5:1-8; Eph 5:27; Phil 3:11,20-21; 1 Thes 2:19; 1 Thes 4:13-17; 1 Thes 5:9,23; Col. 3:4; James 5:7-8; 1 John 2:28; 1 John 3:2; 1 Peter 5:4). When the Rapture occurs, every faithful Christian in Christ - either dead or alive, will be translated into their glorified body at this time. Not one person will be left on earth who is “in Christ” (Rom 8:1; 1 Thes. 4:16-17).

4.   REVELATION’S MAN-CHILD: The 144,000 Jews saved in the first 3 1/2 years of Daniel's 70th week (Rev. 7:1-8). They will be caught up as the man-child in the middle of this week or 3 1/2 years before Christ’s Second Coming (Rev. 12:5; Rev. 14:1-5; Isaiah 66:7-8; Daniel 12:1).

5.   THE GREAT MULTITUDE OF TRIBULATION SAINTS: This company of saints are saved after the Rapture (3 above) and throughout the entire period of Daniel's 70th week (Rev. 6:1-19:21). The first martyrs of this period are told to rest until the remainder of their “brethren” are killed (Rev. 6:9-11) when vengeance will be taken and all raptured in time for the marriage supper (Rev. 7:9-17; Rev. 15:2-4; Rev. 20:4-6). Even those killed by the Beast in the last 3 1/2 years of this week have their part in the First Resurrection (Rev. 20:4-6). This proves their Rapture occurs in time for the Marriage Supper of the Lamb (Rev. 19:1-10) and in time to come back with Christ at the Second Coming (Rev. 19:11-21; Jude 1:14; Zech. 14:5).

6.   THE RAPTURE OF THE TWO WITNESSES: The killing of these two men signifies the end the First Resurrection which commenced with the resurrection of Christ (Rev. 11:7-11).

Summarizing then, good (or righteous men and women) have lived on earth together with evil men and women since the days of Adam and Eve and will continue to do so.

(Psalm 11:5) "The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth."

When the wicked of any generation die, their souls go to Hell:

(Psalm 9:17) "The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God."

The souls of the righteous Old Testament people went to the Bosom of Abraham located in the heart of the earth (Matt 12:40; Luke 16:19-31) to await the resurrection of their body (Matt 27:52-53) after Christ rose from the dead – Rapture 2.

Since Christ died, the souls of all righteous Christians who die in the faith go to be united with Jesus in Heaven to await the physical resurrection of their Body at the Rapture (Rapture 3).

The souls of those that die in the faith during the Tribulation period will likewise go to reside in Heaven until they receive their glorified body as others have, as stated below:

(Rev 6:9-11) "And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under THE ALTAR THE SOULS OF THEM THAT WERE SLAIN for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held : {10} And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? {11} And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled."
